MANSFIELD, Ohio (WOIO) – The Richland County Dog Warden said the shelter is “completely overwhelmed” after taking in 24 dogs within three days.

That brings the total number of dogs in their care to 77.

Several of them have waited over two years to be adopted.

“We have absolutely no room and are going to have to start using wire kennels to house our dogs. Again,” RCDW stated.

Some of the dogs are not even at the shelter at 810 North Home Rd. in Mansfield.

A few of the precious pups who have waited the longest in the shelter were moved to the Mansfield Correctional Institution (ManCI) for the ManCI Prison Program training.

Two of those ManCI dogs are Heller and Bishop.
